Instructions for Replacing an Illusions Shading Clutch

1. Before replacing the clutch, roll up the Illusions window shade COMPLETELY. Unmount
your shade and place it on a clean, flat surface.

2. Remove the endcap from the clutch side of the shade. The picture below shows
an Illusions shade with the endcap removed. TAKE CARE WHEN REMOVING THE ENDCAP!
The caps fit on VERY tightly, and the end of the shade will have sharp metal edges.
You may want to use a flathead screwdriver or a letter opener to leverage the cap away
from the housing.

3. Remove the clutch assembly from the end of the roller. The clutch assembly fits into
the grooved roller tightly, as well.

Installation of the new clutch is the reverse of removal. As before, the parts fit rather
snugly when assembled. PLEASE USE CARE when disassembling or reassembling the shade!
When installing the new clutch, be sure the pulley ropes exit from the bottom of the housing.
After reassembling your shade, remount it, and test the clutch system to be sure it moves
freely. |
